Randomness...
I miss my vBFF. :(
Lifetime
A few weeks ago, I prayed for a friend, someone whom I was very close to. I no longer hear from this person (and there were many attempts on my part), but I offered our friendship up to God and let Him guide me on what to do next. Today, I received this email from a random friend...
"People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person..
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.

They are there for the reason you need them to be.
Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.
Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime."

That is a day that we will all remember...for it was Moco's adoption day! We've been counting down until it actually happened. There were moments when we didn't think it was going to happen. Why? There was a scare the lawyer didn't file the correct documents. And after all, it is the addition of a little stranger to one's family. Yet, deep down...we knew Moco was meant for us. He knew it too.
So today is the 29th. It started early as Moco woke up at 3 a.m. We really don't know why except for the fact that Moco said "it's a new day." I went back to bed and he stayed up to just play in his room for a while. When I came back out at 7 a.m., he was serving himself breakfast and chatting it up with Grandma. He finished and asked if I had to go to work. I told him I did, but we would be able to play when I came home. That satisfied him. I walked with him to his room and much to my amazement it was super clean! I mean, everything was put back in it's proper place. The bed was done too! It's not everyday that your kid cleans his room without being told. I praised him for the surprise and that made him happy.
The hubby and I sat down towards the end of the day and talked. We talked about Moco and his new attitude. We've been through a lot with him...so we are not sure what to expect. We hope and pray that the tantrums and everything else will improve now that he is an official part of our family. We know our lives have.

51.54 and more...
That's how much it cost me to fill up my gas tank on Tuesday. WTH?! Yeah, yeah, I know. The cost of gas has been going up steadily for the past months...I just hadn't put 2 and 2 together until today. Bleh. I don't even use premium. oh well.

It's time for another road trip to Dallas! Moco and I are going to see Moe & Co. Yay! Even more fun is that Moe & I will be running in a race. I'm not doing anything big, just the 5k. (I had originally wanted to do the 15k, but I didn't have anyone to watch Moco while I ran.) Moco will be "running" with me. I'll keep you posted on how it goes. ;)

The hubby has been working some serious hours to finish a project. That means that he really hasn't been spending any time at home...leaving the kid and I to hang out together. Since he finally finished the project yesterday, he figured that he would take the son to work today. Moco was really excited and I was ecstatic that I could get ready for work without someone asking me a million questions. They cleaned up the shop and then went for a "working man's lunch." Two grilled cheese sandwiches with fries and sweet teas. The hubby said Moco loved it, especially since he was paid a dollar for his workday. ;)

Training for the half-marathon in November has been going well. Last week, I ran 6 miles in 1 hour, 45 minutes. It's a horrible time of 17 minutes per mile. I didn't do so hot because I stayed up late the night before plus I drank one too many beers. I'm still not believing that I'm a runner and nights like those can not happen with 6 a.m. run times. I've been running around the neighborhood, but haven't done much practice work. This weekend is what I need to get motivated again. I've got lots of work to do! Argh!

6 months...
It's official. We just received notice of our Adoption Hearing. We'll be adopting Moco at the end of this month.
The days of checking in with our caseworker will be gone. The fear that a bruise he received from being a typical boy will turn into a a child abuse investigation will cease. His asking if whether or not we are going to keep for another month will be answered (although, there are still days when we stop to think about it).
Small changes have begun to take place. He will no longer have a multitude of last names to choose from (he's been in 13 foster homes, and he would use whatever last name the foster parents had; which made school work fun). The three of us sit together to have talks and make decisions. He no longer fears the thought of being alone. He looks forward to the future and the thought of being with us until we die. (His words, not mine.)
Adoption is by no means an easy road. It's a very difficult one. The closer we have get to finalizing it, the more the kid throws tantrums. Testing us with every fiber in his being. He thinks "this will be one that sends me someplace else"...we think "how can he scream for 3 hours non-stop? what were we thinking with this kid?" The journey is by no means over. We've got plenty more road to travel. Now, whether it's going to a smooth or rocky one is the question.
