That's why I joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. They provide you with training for 4-5 months, group training sessions, clinics, and other fun stuff. Everything I need to begin this new adventure. All I have to do is raise funds to go towards cancer research on their behalf. How cool is that?!
Tonight was the information meeting and let me tell you...I'm SO PSYCHED!! Just talking to some of my new "team mates" has totally energized me. They are also pushing me to do the full marathon. Pfft!? Are they crazy?! Then again, it's early in the training and anything is possible at this point.
Pre-season training begins this Saturday at 7 a.m. Early, right?! As God has planned it, I am now used to rising early on Saturdays, so nothing new. (With the adoption of Moco, I have not had a day to sleep late; and Moco wakes up Saturdays at 6:30 a.m. on a regular basis.) It's a simple 2 mile run through Brackenridge Park. The official training season begins June 7th. As of today, I have 5 months and 26 days until the gun goes off!
I ask that you keep me in your prayers as I begin training and to block out Nov. 16th on your calendar so you can see me cross the finish line! ^_^

1 month, 12 days: an Interview of sorts
(9:13:12 AM) Lindsay H.: :)
(9:14:31 AM) Monica : reporter hat on here: with 1 month and 12 days to go, what are you feeling about your upcoming wedding day?
(9:15:24 AM) Lindsay H. : lol
(9:16:04 AM) Monica : This is a serious question, that hundreds - okay, tens - of people woud like to know the answer to. Don't you feel like you owe your public an answer?
(9:16:26 AM) Monica : So again, I ask Ms. ...how are you feeling about your upcoming nuptials?
(9:16:38 AM) Lindsay H. : you're making me lol
(9:17:23 AM) Monica : Aside from being all giggly, do you feel nervous?
(9:17:49 AM) Monica : Do you have any idea what your last meal as a single woman would be?
(9:17:50 AM) Lindsay H. : I'm hungry!
(9:17:53 AM) Monica : lol
(9:18:01 AM) Lindsay H. : hahahahahaha
(9:18:09 AM) Monica : Perhaps, cheese pizza and a diet coke?
(9:18:48 AM) Monica : Ms. , I feel like you are avoiding these questions because you are hiding a deeper story...is there anything you would like to share with the online public?
(9:19:17 AM) Monica : OR is this a public relations tactic to keep us in suspense for the ceremony on 28 June?
(9:21:00 AM) Monica : Hmmm...silence...well folks, it looks like we are going to have to wait for a second interview with Ms. - soon to be Mrs. Holliday.
(9:21:19 AM) Lindsay H. : you're good
(9:22:13 AM) Monica : Until next time then...this is Monica with WGBE channel 7 reporting live inside the offices of Granberry Hills.
(9:22:37 AM) Monica : p.s. this is going into my blog. i'm just sayin'

18 years...
I just got a phone call from my ultimate best friend, "Moe". When Moe became a mom, it was hard for us to keep in contact with one another. I mean, we used to write letters on a weekly basis just because we both have a serious love of stationery and pens. Then I became a mom...that's when all time escaped from us. We do our best to call one another, but we are very lucky if we get to leave a voice mail. :)
So a phone call in which we actually get to talk to one another is definitely a blessing. That woman can make me laugh and cry like no one else. Most of the time, we're on our way to our offices or just about to enter a meeting so our calls last no more than 5 minutes. That just goes to show you that we are always thinking of one another. We understand each other without having to complete a sentence. We just go "uh-huh" and then we start laughing...knowing exactly what the other one was thinking. Now once I'm off the phone, I can spend the next five minutes trying to regain composure.
I suppose that goes with a friendship of 18 years. I love it.

Everyday I go to work. Since becoming a mom (about 3 months now), I dread walking into the office. Even thinking about work makes me cringe. I'd rather be a stay at home mom and spend time working on crafts, on inventing new ways to teach my child fractions or research the latest findings on ADHD. Yes, that makes me a bit envious of those moms that are able to do so, but I'm happy for them at the same time.
That brings me to the heart of this post. On those days that I do walk into the office...I anxiously await the arrival of two co-workers. No, that's wrong to say. These women are two of my closest friends so they are not just co-workers. Sure our office brought us together in a random way, but I have surely been blessed by this circumstance. Not a day goes by without my randomly walking through the office to see if they have arrived. (Believe me, I'll make up some excuse to walk to the other side of the offices - "oh, your mouse is broken?!" or "let me clean that keyboard for you.")
Since then I have introduced them to my sister and "voilĂ " we are the four Musketeers! We listen to one another's gripes, talk about everything going on around us...and mostly importantly support one another. Okay, we're not the ladies of "Sex and the City" - but we are pretty damn close.
Therefore, when I begin to bitch about work...I simply think about the awesome people I have been able to meet because of it. Then I get the warm fuzzies. ^_^
