Infinity

With Moe & JJ in town, we've had a few extra days of fun & adventure! Last weekend, we were able to visit the family cabin in Boerne with them and see Moe's nieces & nephew. We ran, climbed trees, swam in the pool & river, danced, sang at the top of our lungs, ate goodies, played in the playground, drove golf carts, attempted to catch fish...oh, it goes on and on. Moco loved it! He can be a typical rough & tumble boy with two little boys (4 & 2) following him as their leader. Moco claims they are a "gang" or "club" depending on the day or encounter. :)

On Memorial Day, Moco & I stayed home. Sounds lame, huh? Well, I cut the grass while the kid jumped the backyard fence to play with some new friends. Then we got a surprise when Daddy (a.k.a. Hubby) called and said he would be coming home early from work and be ready to hit the road. We got super excited. Daddy is always, ALWAYS, working. (We have our own business - you get the idea.) As soon as he came home, we hit the road and drove to Corpus Christi. It was tons of fun!

For Tuesday's treat, I picked up Moco and told him if he finished his homework without whining I would drive him to Boerne for dinner and swimming. It was by far the fastest and non-complaining homework session ever! We packed our gear and made it to camp just in time to see Moe driving towards us in a golf cart with the kids. I stopped the car to greet them...all you could hear were cheers of "Munka!! Moco!! You came!!" That's all it took for Moco to jump out of the car and onto the cart. Moe explained they were going on a "dinosaur hunt" and off she drove with 5 kids laughing and singing. Again, we swam, ran, chased fireflies, sang silly songs, rode bikes, and roasted marshmellows.

A quick quote from Moe's email to me this morning:
"The boys were sound asleep all night long. I think we wore them out. They had so much fun last night. I loved to just watch them interact and laugh so purely. It made my heart smile. Moco was so adorable when he got here. You could see how happy he was to be here. That made me feel good that he is relaxed around us and can be comfortable enough to just be himself. Thanks for bringing him."
Moco crashed on the way home...the only way I knew was because he stopped talking. He loves going to camp, but especially being with his two pals - JJ & GE. There's something to them not seeing each other for months and then just being the best of friends. No worries, no motives - just pure fun & friendship. It makes me happy to know that my son is making friends that will last him his lifetime.

I absolutely love Moe, JJ, Brit, Alex & GE...and so does Moco.

13.1

It's official. I have registered for the San Antonio Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. Oh, and I am not doing this alone. Not me. I'm a social person, driven by friendly competition and motivated by a cause.

That's why I joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. They provide you with training for 4-5 months, group training sessions, clinics, and other fun stuff. Everything I need to begin this new adventure. All I have to do is raise funds to go towards cancer research on their behalf. How cool is that?!

Tonight was the information meeting and let me tell you...I'm SO PSYCHED!! Just talking to some of my new "team mates" has totally energized me. They are also pushing me to do the full marathon. Pfft!? Are they crazy?! Then again, it's early in the training and anything is possible at this point.

Pre-season training begins this Saturday at 7 a.m. Early, right?! As God has planned it, I am now used to rising early on Saturdays, so nothing new. (With the adoption of Moco, I have not had a day to sleep late; and Moco wakes up Saturdays at 6:30 a.m. on a regular basis.) It's a simple 2 mile run through Brackenridge Park. The official training season begins June 7th. As of today, I have 5 months and 26 days until the gun goes off!

I ask that you keep me in your prayers as I begin training and to block out Nov. 16th on your calendar so you can see me cross the finish line! ^_^

5 days

"A friend is someone who gives you total freedom to be yourself-and especially to feel, or not feel. Whatever you happen to be feeling at any moment is fine with them. That's what real love amounts to - letting a person be what he really is." - Jim Morrison
"A true friend is one, who sits next to you without talking, who makes you feel comfortable." - Sundeep Reddy
My bestest friend is coming into town in 5 days! She's coming at the perfect time too. For the past week, I've been "needy" and a bit "clingy". It happens to me every once in a while. There's not a reason for it...I just get that way. (No, it's not that time of the month either.) It's just a time in which I need a good snuggle or hug from a gal pal.

Editor's note: Okay, okay. I know there are some who are reading this blog who might ask "WTF?! What am I to you?!" The answer is "Yes. You mean something to me, but certain friends have certain roles." There's the friend that you can always gossip with; the friend that you share so many things in common with it's eerie; the friend that makes you laugh...you know what I'm getting at. So, don't be offended. ^_^

(9:15:24 AM) Lindsay H. : lol
(9:16:04 AM) Monica : This is a serious question, that hundreds - okay, tens - of people woud like to know the answer to. Don't you feel like you owe your public an answer?
(9:16:26 AM) Monica : So again, I ask Ms. ...how are you feeling about your upcoming nuptials?
(9:16:38 AM) Lindsay H. : you're making me lol
(9:17:23 AM) Monica : Aside from being all giggly, do you feel nervous?
(9:17:49 AM) Monica : Do you have any idea what your last meal as a single woman would be?

(9:18:09 AM) Monica : Perhaps, cheese pizza and a diet coke?
(9:18:48 AM) Monica : Ms. , I feel like you are avoiding these questions because you are hiding a deeper story...is there anything you would like to share with the online public?
(9:19:17 AM) Monica : OR is this a public relations tactic to keep us in suspense for the ceremony on 28 June?
(9:21:00 AM) Monica : Hmmm...silence...well folks, it looks like we are going to have to wait for a second interview with Ms. - soon to be Mrs. Holliday.
(9:21:19 AM) Lindsay H. : you're good
(9:22:13 AM) Monica : Until next time then...this is Monica with WGBE channel 7 reporting live inside the offices of Granberry Hills.
(9:22:37 AM) Monica : p.s. this is going into my blog. i'm just sayin'
