Okay, it's not the best time for a 3 mile run, but it's a time under 50 minutes. ;) Today was the first official Saturday practice for Team in Training. It was a tough run in the morning humidity and a few good hills (which I am now feeling in my glutes). No, I didn't like the fact that I had to get up at 4:15 a.m. just to hitch a ride with another runner. Then when we get there at 5:30 a.m., we ended up waiting until 7 just to start our run. Craziness. All in all, it was a blast. My mentor and teammates are hilarious and I'm glad I got paired with such an awesome team.
Coach Moe (as Moe is now called) even called to track my progress for today's run and gave her motivational wisdom. In her ongoing efforts to keep me motivated, we are doing the "Too Hot to Handle" 15k in Dallas on July 19th together. I'm excited, but intimidated. This woman is doing more miles than I am in a week and she's preggers. Bleh. It drives the inner competitor in me, so her goal has been accomplished. I'm definitely going to make sure I get more training in as I only have 1 month and 5 days before the 15k.
Most of the women on my team were able to go home and rest. Yeah, not me. Moco was ready to play and I am his playmate of choice. We took Daddy breakfast, then hung out at Hobby Lobby for a good two hours picking out craft projects to do while on vacation next week. Then we came home and worked in the yard, etc. It's been a full day and I am ready to crash. Not just yet though, doing laundry and getting ready for the first Father's Day for the hubby. :)
So I'm off...

Infinity
With Moe & JJ in town, we've had a few extra days of fun & adventure! Last weekend, we were able to visit the family cabin in Boerne with them and see Moe's nieces & nephew. We ran, climbed trees, swam in the pool & river, danced, sang at the top of our lungs, ate goodies, played in the playground, drove golf carts, attempted to catch fish...oh, it goes on and on. Moco loved it! He can be a typical rough & tumble boy with two little boys (4 & 2) following him as their leader. Moco claims they are a "gang" or "club" depending on the day or encounter. :)
On Memorial Day, Moco & I stayed home. Sounds lame, huh? Well, I cut the grass while the kid jumped the backyard fence to play with some new friends. Then we got a surprise when Daddy (a.k.a. Hubby) called and said he would be coming home early from work and be ready to hit the road. We got super excited. Daddy is always, ALWAYS, working. (We have our own business - you get the idea.) As soon as he came home, we hit the road and drove to Corpus Christi. It was tons of fun!
For Tuesday's treat, I picked up Moco and told him if he finished his homework without whining I would drive him to Boerne for dinner and swimming. It was by far the fastest and non-complaining homework session ever! We packed our gear and made it to camp just in time to see Moe driving towards us in a golf cart with the kids. I stopped the car to greet them...all you could hear were cheers of "Munka!! Moco!! You came!!" That's all it took for Moco to jump out of the car and onto the cart. Moe explained they were going on a "dinosaur hunt" and off she drove with 5 kids laughing and singing. Again, we swam, ran, chased fireflies, sang silly songs, rode bikes, and roasted marshmellows.
A quick quote from Moe's email to me this morning:
I absolutely love Moe, JJ, Brit, Alex & GE...and so does Moco.

A quick quote from Moe's email to me this morning:
"The boys were sound asleep all night long. I think we wore them out. They had so much fun last night. I loved to just watch them interact and laugh so purely. It made my heart smile. Moco was so adorable when he got here. You could see how happy he was to be here. That made me feel good that he is relaxed around us and can be comfortable enough to just be himself. Thanks for bringing him."Moco crashed on the way home...the only way I knew was because he stopped talking. He loves going to camp, but especially being with his two pals - JJ & GE. There's something to them not seeing each other for months and then just being the best of friends. No worries, no motives - just pure fun & friendship. It makes me happy to know that my son is making friends that will last him his lifetime.
I absolutely love Moe, JJ, Brit, Alex & GE...and so does Moco.

13.1
It's official. I have registered for the San Antonio Rock 'n' Roll Marathon. Oh, and I am not doing this alone. Not me. I'm a social person, driven by friendly competition and motivated by a cause.
That's why I joined The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team in Training. They provide you with training for 4-5 months, group training sessions, clinics, and other fun stuff. Everything I need to begin this new adventure. All I have to do is raise funds to go towards cancer research on their behalf. How cool is that?!
Tonight was the information meeting and let me tell you...I'm SO PSYCHED!! Just talking to some of my new "team mates" has totally energized me. They are also pushing me to do the full marathon. Pfft!? Are they crazy?! Then again, it's early in the training and anything is possible at this point.
Pre-season training begins this Saturday at 7 a.m. Early, right?! As God has planned it, I am now used to rising early on Saturdays, so nothing new. (With the adoption of Moco, I have not had a day to sleep late; and Moco wakes up Saturdays at 6:30 a.m. on a regular basis.) It's a simple 2 mile run through Brackenridge Park. The official training season begins June 7th. As of today, I have 5 months and 26 days until the gun goes off!
I ask that you keep me in your prayers as I begin training and to block out Nov. 16th on your calendar so you can see me cross the finish line! ^_^
