Points...

Hi. This is Mango reporting live with coverage from this weekend's fantasy football match ups. The season opener began with Team Biggers taking on Team Patterson. With incredible upset, Team Biggers won the game with 208 points; while Team Patterson lost with 136 points.

Other weekend match ups included Team Tarantino vs. Team Holliday. Team Tarantino dominated the game with 203 points compared to Team Holliday's mere 105 - the lowest of all the teams.

Teams McCurdy, Andrade & Wiedower all received byes this week.

What happened in the Biggers versus Patterson game? Well, Team Patterson had some bad luck with Brady injuring his knee and going out for the season. In a recent Facebook interview, Team Patterson owner Heidi stated that she has " some other tricks up [her] sleeve." The UCB Fantasy Football league can't wait to see what she plans to do.

Again, this is Mango with League UCB's Fantasy Football Follow-Up.

30 days...almost

Sheesh...where do I begin? It's been forever and a day since I've had time to blog. It's almost been a month! I'll guess I'll do some highlights.

  • Moco started football! It all started Aug. 1st. I didn't post anything because I didn't know if it was going to stick. Day one of practice had my kid dancing instead of doing a grapevine. (He really didn't know what they were talking about!) A month later and the kid is still going strong. He is on the defensive line. Impressive since he is the youngest and shortest on the team. He's been tackling others that are much larger and have had more experience than he does. Sure - he's got days when he looks more like a tackle dummy than an actual football player...but he's out there. Our first game is on Saturday. I'll keep you posted...
  • Moco's first day of school! He started his first official day of school with us on Aug. 25th. Yes, he started school last Spring here, but like he said "It's not the same. I was just the new kid. This is first day of school!" Two weeks into it and we're doing okay. Just started homework this week and no major issues...yet. I'm thinking those issues have passed, but he's still an 8 year old kid.
  • Labor Day weekend was spent with me being sick the entire time. It was the first weekend in I don't know how long that Mike took the entire time off...and I was sick. Horrible. We did manage to go out on Friday night to celebrate his 37th birthday. We had tons of fun with friends and family. :) Other than that, we spent the weekend watching T.V. and resting. It was awesome!
That's about it for us. I'll try to do better on posting. A tough thing to do - but I will try. :)

Randomness...

I miss my vBFF. :(

Lifetime

A few weeks ago, I prayed for a friend, someone whom I was very close to. I no longer hear from this person (and there were many attempts on my part), but I offered our friendship up to God and let Him guide me on what to do next. Today, I received this email from a random friend...

"People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime.
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person..
When someone is in your life for a REASON, it is usually to meet a need you have expressed. They have come to assist you through a difficulty, to provide you with guidance and support, to aid you physically, emotionally or spiritually. They may seem like a godsend and they are. They are there for the reason you need them to be.

Then, without any wrongdoing on your part or at an inconvenient time,
this person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end.
Sometimes they die. Sometimes they walk away. Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand. What we must realize is that our need has been met, our desire fulfilled, their work is done.

The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.

Some people come into your life for a SEASON, because your turn has come to share, grow or learn. They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh.
They may teach you something you have never done. They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy. Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.

LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons, things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation. Your job is to accept the lesson, love the person and put what you have learned to use in all other relationships and areas of your life. It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant.

Thank you for being a part of my life, whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime."

07.28.08

That is a day that we will all remember...for it was Moco's adoption day! We've been counting down until it actually happened. There were moments when we didn't think it was going to happen. Why? There was a scare the lawyer didn't file the correct documents. And after all, it is the addition of a little stranger to one's family. Yet, deep down...we knew Moco was meant for us. He knew it too.

So today is the 29th. It started early as Moco woke up at 3 a.m. We really don't know why except for the fact that Moco said "it's a new day." I went back to bed and he stayed up to just play in his room for a while. When I came back out at 7 a.m., he was serving himself breakfast and chatting it up with Grandma. He finished and asked if I had to go to work. I told him I did, but we would be able to play when I came home. That satisfied him. I walked with him to his room and much to my amazement it was super clean! I mean, everything was put back in it's proper place. The bed was done too! It's not everyday that your kid cleans his room without being told. I praised him for the surprise and that made him happy.

The hubby and I sat down towards the end of the day and talked. We talked about Moco and his new attitude. We've been through a lot with him...so we are not sure what to expect. We hope and pray that the tantrums and everything else will improve now that he is an official part of our family. We know our lives have.
